Thank you for considering Mountain Vein Care for your vein treatments.
At Mountain Vein Care, all of the therapeutic services we offer are office-based. This means there is no longer any reason to have vein procedures done in a hospital or outpatient surgery center. There is absolutely no downtime after any procedure. In fact, all patients are required to walk on a treadmill immediately after the procedure is completed to promote blood flow in the legs.
Our primary procedure is endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) of abnormal veins. This involves placing a thin laser fiber into the affected vein under ultrasound guidance. As the laser fiber is slowly withdrawn from the vein, the laser causes the vein to “seal up”. This eliminates the abnormal blood flow and allows your body’s normal veins to take over. Your body will naturally dissolve the “sealed” vein away. EVLA is performed with local anesthetic which minimizes any discomfort.
Our practice also offers sclerotherapy, both ultrasound-guided and visual sclerotherapy. This involves injecting a small amount of a medication, called a sclerosant, into the abnormal vein. Like endovenous laser, this results in the vein collapsing and the body dissolving it away naturally. Most patients will require several sessions of sclerotherapy after the initial laser ablation in order to “close down” the branch veins that arise from the main vein which was previously lasered.
Phlebectomy involves the removal of large, bulging surface veins through tiny needle punctures. It is typically done after the EVLA (endovenous laser ablation) procedure.
